President & CEO

Mike Mattes

CORMETECH was formed in 1989 as a joint equity company of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI), Corning Incorporated, and Mitsubishi Petrochemical (MPC). Corning Incorporated is acknowledged worldwide as a leader in glass and ceramic processing technologies and in the automotive emission control field. Corning's ceramic honeycomb substrates are used by more than 50% of the automotive catalytic converters in use worldwide. Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. (MHI) is one of the world's leading heavy machinery manufacturers. Mitsubishi and its licensees have supplied over one half of the SCR systems used on utility and industrial boilers and combustion turbines worldwide. CORMETECH's catalyst technologies uniquely benefit from the ceramic extrusion technology of Corning Incorporated and SCR system design, engineering, and experience of MHI.

CORMETECH leverages its parent companies' more than 30 years of SCR field experience and ceramic extrusion technology, to create innovative catalyst products and services that meet our customer's needs. At the end of 2014, CORMETECH has supplied services and delivered operating catalysts worldwide for more than 1,500 SCR systems, totaling over 140,000 MW of generating capacity.

Headquartered in Durham, North Carolina, USA, with sales offices in Europe and China, CORMETECH has fully dedicated, state-of-the art manufacturing facilities, R&D centers and testing laboratories in Durham, North Carolina and Cleveland, Tennessee.

In 2017, STEAG SCR-Tech, Inc., the world leader in SCR catalyst regeneration services, acquired CORMETECH, Inc., the leading innovator and manufacturer of high-quality environmental catalysts and services for the power, marine, industrial-process, refinery, and petrochemical markets. The two companies merged their businesses, adopting the CORMETECH name.
